About

Hello! I’m Elliot, and I’m a Canadian artist based in Calgary, Alberta. To date, I have been largely self-taught and practice oil painting. However, I was fortunate to receive instruction from the esteemed Montreal oil painter (and tattoo artist) Ian Stone in 2024. After this formative experience, I sought to establish a practice exploring identity through portraiture and expressive figurative and still life work. I’m currently pursuing a Certificate in Visual Design, specializing in Art Theory & Practice, at the University of Calgary, with expected completion in mid-2026.

Inspiration

Inspired by a range of influences, my practice is grounded in appreciation for the great masters, alongside contemporary portrait and abstract artists. I find inspiration in the beauty of natural landscape, and my approach is in some ways shaped by my experience as an amateur film photographer and blockprinter, with works published in Seities magazine.

Current work is inspired by the identities of friends, family, and acquaintances, and recent travels throughout Canada, Mexico, Spain, France and New Zealand.
