About
Elliot Cudmore is a Canadian artist based in Calgary, Alberta. He is self-taught and practices oil painting. Under the instruction of esteemed Montreal oil painter, Ian Stone, Elliot sought to establish a practice exploring identity through portraiture and expressive emotion in figurative and still life work. He is continuing studies through individual coursework at the Alberta University of the Arts (formerly ACAD) and the University of Calgary.
Inspiration
Inspired by the great masters of the Renaissance and Dutch realism, his practice is influenced by contemporary portrait and realism artists, natural landscape beauty, and is informed by his experience as an amateur film photographer and blockprinter, with works published in Seities magazine.
Current work is inspired by the identities of friends, family, and acquaintances, and recent travels throughout Western and Atlantic Canada, Mexico, Spain, France and New Zealand.
